What TEAS score do I need? What 56 programs publish
No universal passing score exists: each school sets its own minimum [1]. We read the admissions pages of 56 programs in 24 states on 2026-10-18 and recorded what each says. The full list with links is public.
The overall minimum, for the 43 that state one
| Overall minimum | Programs | Share |
|---|---|---|
| 58.7% or lower | 14 | 33% |
| 60% to 65% | 18 | 42% |
| 66% to 70% | 10 | 23% |
| Above 70% | 1 | 2% |
The lowest is 58%, the highest 75%, the middle program asks for 62%. Twelve list 58.7%, the lower edge of the Proficient level.
The other 13 programs
They ask for a level (for example Proficient), for section minimums (Reading 70, Math 60 and so on) or for points that only count above a section threshold. A section minimum can matter more than the overall number: one low section can disqualify a high total.
Meeting the minimum is not the same as getting in
Several programs rank applicants and take the highest scores first, so the minimum is a floor. Aim above it, and check your program page for the current rule and for how long a score stays valid.
Method
Each program was picked as a community college or university with a nursing or allied health program that publishes its TEAS rule on its own site. A record was kept only when the page states a minimum. We checked 12 records a second time against their pages and all 12 matched. The sample over-represents community colleges and is not a random draw of all programs. Shares are computed from programs.json: take the 43 records whose minimum is a number and count them by band.
